The Stranger, 50x60cm, Zvonimir Haramija

The Stranger depicts a faceless man placed within an undefined, almost surreal landscape dominated by a monumental brutalist structure. Stripped of identity and context, the figure appears to be a stranger not only to the world surrounding him, but also to his own existence. The cold, imposing architecture reinforces a sense of distance and isolation, creating a space in which the individual appears small, lost, and disconnected.

The work explores feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and alienation, as well as the relationship between the individual and the space they inhabit. The faceless figure can be understood as a universal representation of a person who, despite being physically present, feels invisible and detached from the world around them. The ambiguity of the landscape leaves room for personal interpretation, while the brutalist architecture intensifies the sense of coldness, weight, and emotional distance.
