Krvavica, 65x50cm, Jessica Gobert

This acrylic painting was created during Jessica Gobert’s residency in Makarska in 2024.

The inspiration came from the nearby village of Krvavica, where an abandoned children’s sanatorium stands hidden in the forest, overlooking a crowded beach. The striking contrast between the sounds of the lively shore and the forgotten building looming above it created a unique atmosphere.

The painting captures the obliviousness of tourists enjoying their day by the sea, while the abandoned structure quietly watches from behind the trees.
