Red Painting presents abstract forms interacting within a carefully balanced composition. Geometric and organic shapes intertwine, creating relationships between different lines, surfaces, and colours, with red becoming one of the work’s defining visual elements.

The work was influenced, more or less directly, by the paintings of Paul Klee and his approach to achieving colour balance within a composition. As with many works in the series, the spontaneity of children’s play also serves as an important source of inspiration — freely combining shapes and colours without strict rules or a predetermined outcome.

Red Painting brings together a consideration of colour and compositional balance with the freedom of intuitive creation, resulting in a visual language that feels at once simple, playful, and thoughtfully constructed.
