Fake Fossil I, Fran Ferković

These works are part of a series of small-scale paintings depicting fossilised animals whose anatomy is “frozen” in a state of paleontological preservation. The cycle explores the processes of sedimentation, cyclical decay, and renewal, examining the relationship between time, matter, and permanence.

Here, the fossil is more than a representation of the past—it becomes a visual medium through which transformation and continuity are explored. Rather than serving solely as a remnant of what once was, it invites reflection on the enduring cycles of change that shape both nature and memory.
