This painting was created from Mia's childhood memories of playing on the beach, where the word "Jump" often meant a moment of play, freedom and courage. The dominant motif is the moment before the jump – tense and frozen in time – symbolizing transition, decision and the relief that comes after letting go. Oil on board allowed for the expression of this emotional charge through the dense, rich texture and dynamic voids of the surface. Mia found inspiration in the real scene of children about to jump into the sea, but also in her own inner sense of the need for change. She wants the viewer to feel a simultaneous sense of anticipation and lightness, and to recall her own moments of decision. The work functions as an independent entity, but is thematically connected to Mia's other works that explore transitional and emotional moments.
