Jessica Gobert's "Barcelonnette" was created during her artist residency at Villa Puebla in the French Alps. The painting depicts a forest path connecting Barcelonnette to the village of Saint-Pons, recorded in situ and completed in the studio. The acrylic technique allowed her to respond quickly and immediately to natural conditions, while the gentle contrasts and softened shadows convey the atmosphere of a calm September afternoon and a light breeze through the treetops.
