The Kontura Auction House's Winter Auction, its 61st, will take place on Saturday, December 7th this year at the Demeter-Corvin Palace in Radićeva 24, Zagreb, featuring a range of modern and contemporary Croatian art, from prominent figures of Croatian modern painting to their no less interesting drawings, prints, and sculptures. The auction begins at 6 PM, and pre-auction exhibitions run all week, every weekday from 10 AM to 6 PM, including Saturday, December 7th.
Among the offered works, two watercolors by Slava Raškaj from the late 19th century stand out, as well as the oil painting "Portrait of a girl with a large bow" by Josip Račić from 1904/05 – whose verified works are rarely seen on our art market.

Other notable works include: two watercolors by Ljubo Babić from his so-called Spanish phase around 1920; the painting "Chioggia - Canal Vena" (1915-1920) by Emanuel Vidović, the oil painting "Sea" by Mencije Clement Crnčić, a magnificent, lavish maritime composition of a larger format, created between 1919 and 1924.

Furthermore, a portrait of Marshal Tito by the skilled portraitist Artur Oskar Alexander from 1948; two works by Josip Vaništa: the almost neo-baroque, 'stančić-esque', mystical "Still life on a table" (around 1954), and a watercolor of the Venetian lagoon.

A surprise in the offering is an atypical, early work by Đuro Seder from the phase when he gradually began to return to color and gesture, "Figure in an interior" (1975), as well as Marin Tartaglia's painting "Figure II-A" from the 1960s. Two still lifes by painter Nikola Reiser from the second half of the sixties, with the artist's analytical approach, also stand out from his characteristic production, as does the oil painting "Zrinjevac" by the recently deceased doyen of painting, Munir Vejzović.
The Winter Auction will also present works by Branko Šenoa, Bela Čikoš Sesija, Mirko Uzorinac, Jose Bužan, Bogumil Car, Cata Dujšin Ribar, Vjekoslav Parać, Sergije Glumac, Rudolf Ernst Marčić, Jozo Kljaković, Miron Makanec, Ivo Kalina, Zlatko Prica, Đuro Pulitika, Dubravka Babić, Cvijeta Job, Nives Kavurić Kurtović, Nikola Koydl, Mersad Berber, Antun Boris Švaljek, Ivica Šiško, Dafna Perković, Srećko Planinić, Vjekoslav Brešić, Davorin Radić, Vlado Jakelić, Mladen Veža, Josip Škerlj, Lovro Artuković, Damir Sokić and Ivan Kožarić.
